T-CAIF, the Tom Crean Authentic Ireland Festival will be held in November of 2012 and it is a project that is near and dear to my heart. The festival is a memorial to my dad who passed away in 2010 and who had a deep love and passion for the purest form of traditional Irish music, specifically the music from a region of Ireland called East Galway.

T-CAIF strives to honor daddy, Eddie Kelly a highly esteemed fiddleplayer, who later became my teacher and all the musicians from that area who played this soulful style of traditional Irish music. The festival will recognize the dignity in being loyal to that tradition, a tradition that is in danger of dying out and a tradition that is beautiful in its simplicity.

The East Galway regional expression of traditional Irish music has yet to find the recognition that it richly deserves and A.I.C.E will be the first group in the US to have a festival with such a mission and vision.  It is a measured, quiet and soulful style that compels the listener with it's intricate ornamentation and creative and unpredictable variations.

Over the T-CAIF weekend, there will be music classes on button accordion, fiddle, flute, uileann pipes, bodhran, piano accompaniment, Irish bouzouki, guitar accompaniment in Irish music, sean nós singing, sean nós dancing, traditional Irish singing and Irish set dancing. The festival will also feature the official US launch of the fiddle/flute duet by Éilís Crean and Brad Hurley, which also honors the East Galway style of fiddle and flute playing.

A.I.C.E has already received great love and support from Middle Tennesseans and the larger area, this past year and I hope that you will get behind us and help us to make this festival one of a kind and something that people will talk about for generations. I believe was can do it. Middle Tennessee has already carved out a place in history by being the first group in the world to learn the Gaelic language online, from an instructor from Connemara Ireland. We are wrapping up our first semester and what an achievement for all those involved from Franklin, Nashville, Memphis, Atlanta and Augusta and the next semester is growing in popularity for both beginners and intermediate participants.
